JUST STOP IT ALREADY!!!

So what started as a semi-small Denver story yesterday has already been picked up by ESPN, and it’s all because of our Broncos QB situation. Apparently a bunch of “fans” are now going to purchase billboards calling for the team to put Kyle Orton on the bench, and in the words of Vic Lombardi “Release The Tebow” upon the opposing team. 

JUST STOP IT ALREADY!! Everyday I have to read the “Teborton” controversy in my Twitter stream, on Broncos / NFL Blogs, and of course ESPN (cause they have nothing else in the world of sports to talk about). I hear it on the radio in my car, when I travel to a bar, I hear it so much I want to beat people with a rusty steal crowbar. 

These are just my thoughts, but you cannot be a fan of ANY team if you think it’s your job to purchase billboard space in your town because you think YOU KNOW BETTER then people who have spent their whole life playing or coaching the game! YOU SIR / MAM are a DOUCHE BAG if you think your opinion matters that much. 

Are we Broncos fans tired of losing games? Of course we are. A lot of us grew up watching back to back Super Bowl wins, consistently making the playoffs, crushing the Raiders, and winning the AFC West. However those days are gone, and when you are rebuilding you have to take a few jabs on the chin to find out where you stand.  However for fans thinking they “KNOW” better then what coaches are seeing is just ridiculous. If you don’t like what’s going on with your team. Vote with your wallet. Don’t go to the games, don’t buy the merchandise, don’t waste your time. 

Where do I fall on this topic? I’ll be honest. I like Tebow. I didn’t watch him in college. I read his book, I think the guy has character and class and that is something that lacks in a majority of football players. I was excited to watch him rip off that 41 yard run against the Raiders last year, and yeah the kid is exciting to watch.

However the Broncos coaching staff see these players day in and day out, and they get paid to make that call. Do I get PAID to watch the Broncos and make my comments and have the Broncos coaching staff take them into consideration? NO! Do you REALLY THINK that John Fox is gonna drive through LoDo see a Billboard that says bench Orton and think to himself “Jesus Christ, that is BRILLIANT, this is something I have not considered, let the fans determine how to run the team!!! Shoot I should quit right now and let the Broncos head office just have a poll on the front page of DenverBroncos.com to determine the starting lineup” - Yeah, he isn’t thinking that folks. 

I am begging you Bronco fans just STOP IT ALREADY with the bench Orton and Tebow will save this team from nuclear destruction crap. We are fans, root for your team! This is when our Broncos need the support of the NFL’s finest fans the most. So let’s move forward, support our Broncos this Sunday vs. the Bungles and root for the TEAM not INDIVIDUALS.
